Hi all,
I just thought that I would report on my latest
computer. I actually payed big bucks for this ($10 CDN)
but I just couldn't resist. <g>

It is a KAYPRO II and it came in the original box with all
the manuals and disks. Not a scratch on it. This is a real
classic with two full height disk drives which write 195k
single sided diskettes. The processor is Zilog Z80 and the
built in screen is a green 9" CRT. It is maxed out with
64k RAM which is as much as the operating system can
handle.
Included in the package is wordprocessing, financial
planning, programming, filing and record-keeping programs,
as well as games. Also, of course, Microsoft Basic 80, and
the 1981 OS, which is CP/M Version 2.2 by Digital Research
Inc. BTW, the disk has the serial number written on by
hand! Oh, and I just have to mention that it boots in the
blink of an eye. Boy, machines sure have gotten slow since
then. <g>
One thing which is interesting is the styling. I looks
like a piece of electronic test equipment. I love it!
Obviously in 1982 they were catering to a different crowd.

So .... I guess I'll have to learn some CP/M now. Anyone
know where I can pick up a copy of Netscape Comunicator
for this machine? Hehe, that would only take up about
102,500 diskettes!

Cheers,
       Ole Juul
