Hi all,
This might be of interest to any of you with parallel port CD-ROMs, etc., who
would like to run/try Linux...
I've just downloaded the latest Linux kernel files (2.2.2, but 2.2.0/1 are
probably very similar) and during configuration of the kernel I was asked
'Parallel-port IDE/ATAPI device support? (Y/n/?)', followed by a whole heap of
common parallel-drive protocols - including 'MicroSolutions BackPack CD-ROMs'
which is the CD-ROM drive Yolanda has had trouble with before IIRC?
Another nice feature of 2.2.xx (and later 2.1.xx's) is the boot-logo penguin
support - pity graphics mode is slower than text otherwise it'd be quite nice
on my new 386. Oh well...
