As you might remember, my 486SX33 Compaq laptop stopped working a few weeks ago. I already knew the video cable was split, as I could see the copper protruding from the cover. I took it into Downs Micro Systems, which are the biggest Compaq people in my city. Also, their sticker was on the case, so I decided to go there first. The guy I talked to was very nice, and he didn't try to talk me into repairing it there for $200 an hour, but instead me paying $35 for a new cable. I can get this machine apart and back together, so thats good for me. :) I had a bit of a laugh when Windows crashed while he was looking up the part number in the Compaq database. It has been one week since they ordered it, and there's none in stock in Sydney, so they'll have to get it elsewhere. :( Like Scotland. I have been offered $300 for this machine, and I only spent $200 on it a year ago, I think this is good. :) This money is only when buying another system tho. I'm looking at a P75, 16MB RAM, ??MB HDD, 36x CD, etc, for $800 total. [me pay $500] Good buy? Not seriously looking just yet... I was also wondering if a K6-2 motherboard would fit in this 386 case, with power also working? I may be able to get a new motherboard, HDD, RAM, vid card for not much. :) This Compucon keyboard is my favourite one. Just the right feedback and noise. All moneys in Australian Dollars. currenlty approx $AU1 =~ 62c US. -- [- Hoody's Virtual Avenue: http://hoody.virtualave.net/ -] [-- Home of PostHaste, Arachne Webring plus lots more! --] All computers wait at the same speed. * PostHaste and Arachne To unsubscribe from SURVPC send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe SURVPC in the body of the message.
