That would be me, and the site is at http://www.opus.co.tt/dave
(I've now just resubscribed to the new(?) Arachne mailing list)

There are two DOS programs that I know that work with digital cameras.

CAMWORK http://members.tripod.com/~tawba/camwork.htm
DOS program that downloads images from Agfa, Olympus and Epson digital
cameras.
A well written program that I use for my Epson digital camera

PhotoPC software
http://www.lightner.net/lightner/bruce/photopc/msdos/ppc_use.html
Software for DOS and other OSes to control Epson, Agfa, Nikon digitial
cameras

Neither mentioned supporting a Canon camera, though. If the Canon
supports the Sierra Imaging Chipset (which Epson, Agfa, Nikon do),
then the software should work.
