I used a parallel port HP 7200e. Worked like a dying dog.

I think I'll study this subject. It's quite interesting and has a bit of
computer history involved in fully understanding the operation.

Sounds like you were right about the HP. 3 different ones you say?
I doubt Sony has this information on their site.
