My new cat arrived today.
I use a cirque touchpad, a "cat" instead of a mouse and have the mouse on
the left as a lefthanded device for whatever, like visitors who can't use
the cat. I love my cat, it's silky.
Well, the left button was faulty and rarely worked. not serious since I
use the pad for left clicks and drags, but it did mean one less
programmable button.
The box stated "lifetime warranty" and I've been led to believe they mean
my life, not the device's. Box says they mean for me to never have to buy
another mouse device again.
I decided to contact them and see could I take it to a local store for
exchange? Worked for my Kingston turbochip (which incidently I got as a
castoff!).
I'd bought this cat myself, too.
Well, no, they said that I'd have to ship it in, but if I had credit cards
they could cross ship a new one.
No, I didn't have a credit card and frankly couldn't right now afford the
shipping, please just give me the instructions so I can think it over
whether I care that much to get it fixed.
They wanted my info first so I sent that out, then I got a letter that a
new cat was underway, not to worry about shipping charges, they don't want
me to have to pay as after all, I'm in Canada. Dispose of the old cat
anyway you see fit. !!!!wow!!!! 8-D
Sure enough, the new cat arrived, and it's so nice to have a functioning
button there again, it's programmed to close the application. I like my cat.
So, kudos to cirque, and to kingston too, for good warranty service! Pity
cirque doesn't make linux drivers. Still, the cat will function as a
regular mouse on regular mouse drivers, just not as smooth and swift as in
the win9x setup.
(BTW, UPS charged me a brokerage fee, plus gst :-( still cheap enough for
a new cat and keep the old one)
yes, the cat comes with dos drivers and win3.x drivers too, so I'll find a
use for the defective cat and likely take it apart and fix the offending
button if possible.
bye,
Yolanda

I tried to get a life once, but
they were out of stock.
