I'm not sure what would prevent it. I can write anything I
wish. Usually I just take the original mail and reverse
the "To:" and "From:" and then delete whatever other lines
I don't want. I've gotten into the habit of leaving in the
"From:" line until the very end so that I can refer to it
if I want, and maby use it if I change my mind about
whether the mail is list or personal. Most of these things
I do by habit so there is little chance for error.

I'm not using a "program". <g> I avoid "applications" as
much as ablolutely possible as I find they are never the
way I want and carry too much of someone elses wishes.
That's why I like DOS. It comes with one of the alltime
most powerful utilities .... command.com!

That is no hide-out! I started using that in my headers
because it emphasises the "utility" nature of the process.
You can look at it as a personal statement. <g>
I simply use a mail transport utility and everything
else is just a bunch of utilities too. Just like all the
DOS stuff which I like to do.
First I dial up my isp. Then I load a packet driver.
Then I can run a choice of online utilities such as
NETMAIL by Marc S. Ressl which takes care of the pop3/smtp
protocols. Basically, I'm just moving files. Each mail is
a file and I write the header on the top however I want
it. I type fast and am a real demon with file management,
so all this is as fast, or faster, than using a "program".
To write, I use Qedit, to read I use Beug's list.com.
Other major utilities are: grep, move, del, cd. Oh and
also a nifty little utility which can number files
sequentially. That's about it. Batch files are rampant,
and sorting is fast with a simple "sortmail" command which
puts mails into whatever directories I want. Sometimes I
just run a batch file which calls all the other batch
files.

That part surprised me too.
Cheers,
