j.p.: Do you have the Compaq setup floppy disk? OR diagnostic disk? for that model of '486? I have played some with Compaq 8086 - 80286 - 80386 legacy machines and a friend's W98 P-III. I found each one had its own setup/diagnostic disk. Without a disk you have a hard time re-configuring the hardware setup. Check for info at the Compaq web page - you probably should have a frame capable browser because it uses frames on ALL pages I have seen. <http://www.compaq.com/> is the place I always start and poke my way around.
