Bootable partitions should always be within the first 1024 cylinders.
You're BIOS will be able to use partitions outside 1024 cylinders, but
it will not be able to boot from them.
I'm not sure which of the following are BIOS limitations and which are DOS
limitations. I might mix things up, although results will be the same.
The BIOS only allows 4 primary partitions, although it is possible to
exchange primary partitions for extended partitions. On these partitions
atleast 4 logical partitions are allowed. The exact amount of logical
partitions differs between DOS versions.
