Boanne:

I think the "regulation" of the Internet may be one of the more
interesting things to watch in my lifetime.

I think there will be a real clash between Jeffersonian Benevolent
Dictatorship by the so-called "expert" committee's like the W3C and
their standards for technology
vs.
local and national hack politicains trying to get free PR for their own
personal & opportunistic petty political agendas
vs.
the end-users who can muster a targeted email writing campaign never
seen before in any political system.

The end-users can muster a "democratic" email out cry with repercussions
throughout the world media that is going to be a "nearly insurmountable
force to be dealt with" in the 21st century.

I expect that the hack politicians will fold under a frontal attack by
targeted email. The spotlight of close public observation makes most
knee-jerk political gutter snipes run back into their own arena to call
loudly from the sidelines about "saving us from..."

I will bet that if any issue gets to the point of silly bureaucratic
regulations (like oddball interpertation of the Assies new rules) that
those regulations will be held up to public views by the email gods and
left in the dust of foolish legalize - as they well should be IMO.

I have overall faith in human inertia and middle of the roadism in human
values. Plus my own ability to push political water uphill <BG>
