Hello, Tracey!

Those two are also intended for consumer use, not for trained technicians.
A technician will often find the error messages to be unhelpful, although
I've found that virtually ALL diagnostics programs have their good points in
some situations. Keeping comsumer diagnostics programs handy is often
useful for a "second opinion".

Check out http://www.datadepo.com/clinic.htm for a technician-quality
diagnostics package. A lot of the diagnostics available now (such as Norton
Utilities and Nuts & Bolts) work through Windows; the problem with that is
that Windows hides a lot of information, and in general just plain gets in
the way. As a blatant example, I often have to reboot to plain DOS mode in
order to find out the REAL error message that I'm getting while trying to
read a floppy, since the Windows error message is virtually useless.

Help please guys

I've recently started my own business as a PC Tech. I'm based in Jeffreys
Bay, South Africa. I require a good diagnostic program to help speed up
troubleshooting. I'm reasonably experienced in troubleshooting software
problems as this is where I've had most of my experience. I've recently
passed my A+ but am still finding hardware a bit of a challenge.

Can you please advise a package to buy. I've looked at Norton Utilities and
Nuts and Bolts but they don't really offer much hardware help and their
software advice can be a bit dangerous if you're not careful.
