I consider not posting because this is a little arcane, but I'd hate for
someone to have to do this for themselves when it's not necessary.

If you're not REAL interested in the nitty-gritty of formats and
specifications, just trash this and move on. :)

If you're not familiar with HyTime, here's a brief, *highly* innacurate
description:

HTML is a subset of XML (I warned you about innacuracy). XML is a
subset of SGML. SGML is a subset of HyTime. It's not just a file format,
it goes WAY beyond that-- scheduling and event timing, for example. It
is an ISO/IEC standard for cross-platform file compatibility.

You can get much better information at the HyTime User's Group
http://www.hytime.org .
There are links to read the specification online and also to download a
local copy in several formats.

The online version works fine, but the document is >500 pages; a little
less than 2M.

If you're using a long file name OS, you can probably use the downloaded
local copy. If you're not, you won't be able to navigate properly if at
all.

I have a vanilla DOS viewable HTML copy of the standard. I won't send it
due to size, but ask me off list and I'll send you a set of tools that
automates the process of getting a copy and making it navigable. It's
two BAT files, a SCR file, and a short doc, <6K self-extracting
compressed file. For what it's worth, I release it to the public domain.

VDE was a godsend.
