It sounds like your root directory is "full". I put that in quotes
because it's not a matter of disk space, but of the organization of a
FAT file system. The number of files and directories that can be
created in the root directory is limited; I can't remember the number.

If my _guess_ is right, you'll have to move at least one of root's (C:\)
subdirectories into another subdirectory somewhere. This will give you
exactly ONE "empty slot" to use when organizing the rest of the drive.

With this small bit of breathing room, you can probably reorganize
subdirectories of root into subdirectories of subdirectories of root.
This will almost definitely mean editing batch files and Windows
shortcuts to point to the new locations.

To test, see if there's not just ONE file or directory you can do
without and move it to floppy temporarily. The file size doesn't matter-
the smaller, the better, though. After doing this, see if you can create
a file or directory on root. If so, this IS your problem. Naturally,
the new file shouldn't be anything you want to keep, as you'll probably
have to delete it immediately in order to proceed.

I wish you better news tomorrow.
