I don't know of anything fancy but a ordinary clock is fine enough for me :)
KGB is a program that will tell you which file operations have been made.
If you want to speed a certain program (let's call it "windows" <g>) up you
run kgb start windows, exits windows and stop KGB (or go ahead and read the
history.dat file it creates).
By doing this I was able to not only shrink the size of my windows
installation to 1/3 (without ever installing anything except the programs
that I still use - original install was a "minimum" installation). I also
got a noticable (2-3 seconds) speed increase on starting windows. I guess
this is from the fact that the HD doesn't need to read as far before
getting what it needs (I packed and unpacked in between to get it close
together on the HD).
Of course, one has to be carefull, some program in windows can be using a
.dll file that windows itself isn't using - but IMHO loading all the
programs one have might create a much to large history.dat file for you to
be able to use it for anything.
