I know others have answered, but there was this single thing they left out:

@echo.|date >> file.txt
@dir.txt >> file.txt

Now you also get the date on when this was made :)
(There are ways to get the text "Day " and then the date to appear - but
that's way to complictaed IMHO to be very usefull.
