Try any or all of these keyboard  combinations (Thanks to  Yves
Bellefeuille for compiling and positng most of this) Keys usually
supposed to be held down simultaneously

In general try:  Ctrl - Alt - +  or  : Ctrl - Esc

Acer notebooks: F2 key during Power-On Self-Test (POST)

American Megatrends (AMI): Del key during Power-On Self-Test

Award: Del, or Ctrl-Alt-Esc

AST Advantage: Ctrl-Alt-Esc

Compaq: F10 key after the square appears in the top right corner of
        the screen during boot-up

Dell:   Ctrl-Alt-Enter or on some models: Reset twice

DTK: Esc key during Power-On Self-Test

Hewlett-Packard Pavilion:       F1 key during HP blue splash screen

IBM Aptiva 535: F1 while the square with the wavy lines is displayed
        in the upper right corner during power-on

IBM Late model PS/1 Value Point and 330s: F1 during boot

IBM PS/2:  Ctrl-Alt-Del, then Ctrl-Alt-Ins when the cursor is in the
        top right corner. Or on some models: Alt-?

IBM PS/2s w/ Reference Partition: Ins during boot

Mr. BIOS: Ctrl-Alt-S during Power-On Self-Test

NEC: F2 during boot

Olivetti PC Pro:  Shift-Ctrl-Alt  - DEL on Num Pad

Packard Bell: For some models, F1 or F2 key during Power-On Self-Test

Phoenix: Ctrl-Alt-Esc,  or Ctrl-Alt-S, or Ctrl-Alt-Enter,  or
        Ctrl Alt Ins or F1 during boot.

Tandon: Ctrl-Alt-Esc
Tandon 386: Ctrl-Shift-Esc

Toshiba:  F1 during boot
Toshiba:  Esc during boot

Zenith: Ctrl-Alt-Esc

Systems that might require reference disks:
some IBM PS/2
some older Compaqs
some older Epsons (Gemini)
some Toshiba
and some other old 286s

If you don't know what brand or model  the computer or bios is,
you can try a system diagnostics utility to identify it.. There are
several in the simtel archive, hwinfo is a good one, syschk is
another. Look in:
<ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/msdos/sysinfo/>
