Back to square on I guess...  What DOS version you
actually have?  What it said when you type-in the command
"ver" (without quotes) at the DOS prompt?

Is there any error messages?  If this not a ZIP archive,
most likely you will need a more "broader" archive
extractor.  Perhaps RAR will be a good candidate.  Its
available at Simtel's DOS section under "Archiving and
compressing programs":
