If a kernel doesn't come up properly, you'll have kernel panic message and
the system will go into deep space. The nice thing about linux systems that
run under dos like zipspeak or zipslack for sighted users and I suspect
basic linux is they make a file in /var/adm/messages.log that contains the
transcript of what happened on each boot up attempt. zipslack does this and
that makes it possible to use dos to read the log then research the error
and do corrections from that point on.
