Sam,
The other problem with "renaming MS IE" or any other
"registered" Windows software to something else, even
if just temporarily, the user will be confronted with
innumerable message boxes informing them that the action
they are attempting could result in this or that file
type which is currently associated with this or that
program, no longer being opened. While those of us
that are familiar with this behaviour simply click
OK, other not-so-familiar users could and probably
would panic at this point.
Outlook Express somewhere has the option to turn
off the automatic downloading of HTML emails and
running scripts embedded in such...but I still do not
trust it, and use FoxMail instead. That way I can
remotely check my mail on the server, delete what I
don't want, download the rest and IF I want to view
HTML in the preview pane I can turn the option on to
use IE. As was mentioned earlier, later versions of
MS IE do not offer the control over scripting languages
that MS IE 4 and 5 do...I have decided not to upgrade
past version 5.01 SP2 on my Win95 machine.
