As a public service to all those on this list, it was announced today at the
post office where I work (Carrollton, KY 41008), that FedEx will join UPS and
Airborne in having rural mail carriers deliver their ground rate parcels.
What this means to you the shipper is if you pay one of these other services
to have a parcel delivered, they will bring it to us and pay us to deliver it
instead of wasting their gas to drive out into the countryside and deliver it
themselves! They still make money doing it this way, so common sense would
dictate you would be much better off (cheaper) just mailing the parcel in the
first place. No word from the USPS on how they will compensate us for this
added burden, stay tuned for further developments!
