4 MB RAM is very, very brave. I use an old Compaq 386DX20, 2 Times 120
MB HDD, 16 MB RAM and it took a good while....... It's a Printserver
now.

For your Harddrive: Linux does not need the BIOS entrys. It needs the
disk C entry to find something to boot from. Don't bother to enter a
second disk to BIOS. Don't bother about the 512 MB limit. (But make dure
/ part. is below that) I entered the disks geometry in one case and
"cheated" with the number of tracks, declaring my harddrive 80 MB
(exactly the size of my / part.)

Try to ask friends for old Computer stuff, particulary Memory. (I
desperately hope your Machine isn't a Compaq. The mem expansion board
would be priced like a Pentium II, even from the dip)

What do you need it for?

run as less services as possible and nessesary. Compile a handmade,
modularised kernel on !!another!! machine and copy it and the modules
over. (I use NFS for this).

Not sure. I think the kernel is the thing. The "older" SuSE Versions
(4.x) came with info how to install on 4 MB, but you made it. Be sure to
add enough swap. At least, your disk is big enough for that. ;-)
