Is the Python a S.u.S.E. rpm and are both packages it's querying S.u.S.E.
rpms ? I bet something in there isn't a S.u.S.E. package.
I don't think it's a S.u.S.E. problem. rpm is quering prior to install,
but a libreadline.so.3. rpm -qf gives: libreadline.so.3 as part of
'bash-2.01.1.1-15.' RPM doesn't know ldconfig. It's notion of what you
have onboard is based purely on the rpmdb. There is no
a readline rpm because readline on S.u.S.E. is a part of the bash.rpm.
The easy answer for
you if you know for sure you have all deps satisfied is to use "rpm -i
--force" or "rpm -Uvh --nodeps" to overide dependency querying. I think
the RPM you are using is failing because it has a conflicted idea of how
to find out for sure you have all dependencies satisfied. This is why
sometimes it doesn't work to use non-dist RPMS, because although the same
packages might be installed they might be installed with a slightly
different configuration. This is also why it can be a pain mixing source
builds with rpm installs, cause you really have to be very aware of what's
going on or it can get confusing.
Where did you get libdb.so.2 from? I don't think that's part of S.u.S.E.
5.3 is it?
In any case. Just override querying for dependencies, and be careful about
mixing and matching sources with RPMS and intermingling RPMS from
different dists or sources, if you can help it.
If I'm way off base on this, pardon the FYI.
