HI all
Im not feeling particullary bright here, *somehow* my diald got TOASTED!

not exactly sure what I did but suddenly diald began to give me errors
"temporary name server error"
Ive checked resolv.conf, /etc/hosts/ everything seems normal

I removed and reinstalled diald with yast
tried activating and deactivating
lastly I removed every trace of diald ; rebooted ; did find / -name
diald <nothing>; reboot ; installed diald via yast ; activated in yast
network config
removed .fetchmailrc and reran fetchsetup

diald is just not coming up!!!!
I can dial up with /etc/suseppp/scripts/ppp-up generic and then run
fetchmail no problem

now

fetchmail "local error: network is unreachable"

diald "no device specified. You must specify at least one device"

diald & "no device specified. You must specify at least one device"

diald /dev/ttyS0 "you must define a connection script&remoteip&local ip"

What the hell is going on!
diald is set to yes in rc.config Ive rebooted the system... It dosent
come up

also fwiw I noticed yast trashes the generic.options when ever I alter
the ppp connection ! UNREAL!!
So Im going from everything working nicely... to what looks like...(a
reinstall) this shouldnt be necessary!
:-/
not a happy camper
please advise
