Not sure if this is exactly what your asking, but let me describe my
setup, I'm using AfterStep and really like the asmail program shows how
many incoming mails I have, spinning logo, etc.. Anyway, I use fetchamil
to grab my e-mail from my various shells, and it stores it in the usual
location. I use netscape to view and download them from the localhost
which basically clears the /var/spool/mail/user file.
If this is what your talking about, heres what I did:

goto prefs in netscape
select mail servers
select your mail server in list then select edit
change server type to movemail
make sure your username matches that of localhost

Otherwise I'm not positive what exactly your asking and trying to do.
