The best thing I could suggest is to read the kernel-HOWTO. Someone could
show you the process, but I feel you wouldn't "learn" what actually is
going on when dealing with a kernel upgrade. I asked the same question,
once upon a time, and the best answer I heard was to "read, do, learn". ;)
