[SuSE Linux] ttys0-com: under DOS, /dev/modem & cua1

I run S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3.0 on a "SOLO" 2500 Laptop from Gateway.

I had to completely reinstall yesterday. Now neither MINICOM nor KPPP
can accessmy internal, pcmcia modem. They just "PUT A LOCK" in
/dev/modem, and kppp freezes up and can't be closed or killed without
"shutdown -r now"

I do my duty with YAST, Remove all contents of /etc/ppp/options, I
put my dial up data in "hosts/conf"... what am I NOT doing right?

If I must link some thing to some thing, what are those things and
what is the command, ( I am an abject nerwbie, and my understanding
of links and such is nil).

I reinstalling system their was a section demanding they link ttys0
to dev/modem.

And my connects with my previous install always took 5 or 6 tries
before pppd wouldn't drop, and the connections never went beyond
3800, and my modem and dial up are both 57600 baud.

Thanks

Hal
