Yes, I am running 2.2 with Suse 5.3. You will have to update various
packages as noted in the ./Documentation/Changes file. I don't know if
there are RPMs available, as I just obtained the source tarballs and
built them myself.

As for libc6 (aka glibc), I think is not necessary (or at least I have
had no ptoblems with any of the 2.2pre or 2.2.0 kernels) to use
libc6. 2.2.0 seems to run perfectly well on libc5.

I did try (using the HOWTO) to upgrade my system to glibc, but had 2
problems. The first was that I just could not get libg++ or stdlibc++
to compile, thus making it impossible to compile c++ programs. The
second was that I was getting problems with other libraries (not
listed in the HOWTO) version clashing between libc5 and libc6 causing
segmentation faults in applications. So, I reverted back to libc5 and
will wait for Suse to officially provide that upgrade path.
