I don't know about the glibc, but I do know that upgrading from a 2.0.3x
kernel to a 2.2.x will noticably increase the speed of  X......not to
mention better memory management ;) And you don't have to run 6.0 to get
that..just read the usr/src/linux/Documents/Changes file of the 2.2.x
kernel before pondering the kernel upgrade.  There are a few upgrades
required, but the benifits definitely outway the costs.
