I had the same problem when I upgraded to 6.0. In fact, isapnp wouldn't work
so I re-installed isapnp from the 5.3 dist. and once again sound worked,
except in KDE. Desktop sound don't work. 

Then, I downloaded the 1.1 KDE rpms from SuSE and boing. Desktop sounds are
once again functional.
