please have a look at:

The info on that web page is a bit outdated because we have since made
a bit of progress by putting together a couple of pentiums and the
cluster is up and running. It runs under RedHat 5.1 mainly because that
was the distribution the people who set it up had experience with. I am
quite confident that you could do the same with SuSE 5.3 or 6.0.
