Have you run the script /usr/sbin/suserundig to initialise the database
after configuring the database in /opt/www/htdig/conf/susedig.conf?

If yes, and you're still getting the message, you may be falling foul of
the same error I had - lack of space in /tmp for the temporary files
htdig creates when initialising the database.

You can get around that by setting the envvar TMPDIR to somewhere on
your disk where you have plenty of free space until after suserundig has
executed.

If you add -v to the end of each commandline in the suserundig script,
you'll get some feedback to the console as to what is (or isn't)
happening.
