I think KDE and X as a whole run xrdb. Just that there seems to be a bug
between lines 10 and 13 (more correctly line 13 overrides what is stated in
line 10). At least that is the error I get, and have yet to resolve. I am
going to have to swap notes on that with a friend of mine who still has 5.3
installed.
