I could not find resources on adabas D whatsoever. For me to use
adabas D for work, I need concrete examples on setup of tables, how to
use different x functions, what the different configuration options
mean in adabas D like for table init. and how to use them. I dont see
this anywhere. The online or help docs are quite vague besides using
xcontrol or whatever. I found informix much easier to work with. One
command and I have access to my informix databases. It does not take
myriad hundreds of mb's to install either. There are front ends in
html for informix freely available. One can also use the applix data
component to attach to either adabas D or informix databases.

I have a web page somewhere which details applix data to informix
somewhere.Have you considered the other ones like postgreSQL, mySQL? I
have not because I am using informix now for most stuff. I also use
qddb which provides a lot of functionality for things like contact
lists, addresses, cd rom collections, software titles, etc.
