I just bought an external modem today - a Diamond SupraExpress 56e. I
set it up easily under windows and it works great. But the reason I
bought it is because of Linux. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I
just can't get a connection. I used Minicom to set it up. The modem is
connected to COM1 so I set the serial port to /dev/ttyS0. Next, I
configured option E (Baud/Par/Bits) to match the modem's settings. The
connection speed was set to 115200bps, parity and data bit were set to
'none' (option J) and 8 stop bits. I saved the setup as dfl. So far for
the setup.

When I tested the modem, I didn't get the 'OK' prompt. The text in the
right lower corner says 'Offline' and nothing changes that. I tried some
options in the menu but nothing works. Can anyone please help me out
here? I'd really appreciate it.
