One of the best animation programs in the business - Blender. Developed
by a professional animation studio in the Netherlands. Written in C++
and is blazing fast. I've seen parts of 20 minute movies made with it.

object de' art, is $50. Well worth it.

Several packages here. One is Varkon, from a Finnish firm. Free to
Linux users, otherwise it's $795 per seat. It is programmable,
vectored, 3-D, animated, or you can do simple flat 2-D.
