I just got SuSE 6.0 delivered today and have my primary 5.3 workstation
upgraded. The upgrade went very smooth for the most part although I did
have one problem. I run my system connected to an APC Back-UPS 650 and
for the last few months I've have had the "backupsd" program from the
UPS-HOWTO monitoring my UPS so my system can be shutdown unattended in
the event of a prolonged power outage.

I expected problems with some of the custom stuff I have since it's all
been built against libc 5. No big deal I'll just recompile. What I
discovered is that the old version of init expected the "powerstatus"
file to reside in "/etc/powerstatus". The new updated man page for init
included in 6.0 says that init looks at "/etc/powerstatus" as well. What
I found out is that this is not true. The init program included in 6.0
expects the powerstatus file to reside in "/var/run/powerstatus"
instead. I used the "strings" utility on the init file to see what file
name was embedded in the executable.
