You won't have all the software packages at your disposal.
The snapshots, like those from cheapbytes.com, give you a
basic linux system. But you could go to an ftp site and get any
packages you might have need for.
You will get a working system, but things like xv, sane, Image Magik,
sound packages, etc, may not be on the snapshot you get.
