Send me a copy of your /etc/isapnp.conf and I'll edit it for you.
Better yet, just look for a line that mentions your modem,
then under it, there is a line for irq.
Don't forget to uncomment
ACT Y at the end.

By the way, don't use irq 5, it will probably conflict
with a sound card if you have one. Or the printer.
Use irq4 if you have a ps2 mouse, if you have a serial mouse
on com1, use irq3 for your modem.
