And to think, I spent 18 years of my life as a consultant-programmer
digitizing the financial records of all kinds of businesses. Not once
during that period did I ever encounter a company that wanted to keep
the Point of Sale on computer but the General Ledger on paper. I met a
good number that wanted two sets of books: "one for the government and a
'small set' that gives me a quick bottom line". "Don't know how to do
that" I would reply. Gates apparently does.
