Hi Rod
    IMO anything over ...600M is *alot* You can do a very nice custom install at
around 4 500M
The thing is you have to look closely over *every* package in yast. Initially its
alot of work but once you get used to it... its a peice of cake.
If you look at all the packages the forst is the base system (youll need it) =80M
programs that dont need x... have a look you my system is 12M
applix (which is crippled so unselect it) =0
extreme linux =0
development C C++ mine is 42M
documentation mine is 42M (go over this carefully as the german man and howtos are
selected by default
emacs I dont use emacs so 0
emulators I dont use 0
games 211K
gnome 0
graphics 3.3M
KDE 27M
network support 22M make sure you select suseppp and all the ppp options
commercial software <netscape> 18.3M
sgm 0
snd 0
spell checking 17M
tcl 16M
tex 0
X = 21M
xap 1.4 M
xdev 5.1M
xsrv try and select the server you need 5M
xv =0
xwm 32.6
zq=0
this totals to about 420+ -
You can always go back to yast and install something if you find you need it
Im sure alot of folk would be appalled about my small no frills install but It works
just fine and after installing *several* times I think I know what I use and what I
never use.
