I've recently been helped whith this;) Go to /etc/rc.d/ and do ./apache
start and it should work. You can also do stop and restart on the progam
in that script.

Same goes for the other scripts in that directory.

(A tip, also edit the httpd.conf file in /etc/apache so that Override
Allow None is change to Override Allow All. That is if you plan to add
.htaccess files in directories.)
