I presume that you checked that Kscd did not accidentally get placed in your
Autostart folder. If it was then removing it from the Autostart folder will
solve your problem. If it wasn't then read on.
Kscd behaves a bit differently than other apps in that you have to close it
with the '1|0' button in the lower left corner of its panel and not with the
'x' in the toolbar. If you close both instances of kscd this way this should
cure your problem.
If you don't want any apps to start that were left running in your previous KDE
session, you can start kwm with the '-nosession' option (at least I _think_
it was kwm, to be sure check the KDE archives at http://lists.kde.org).
