I struggled with getting PPP up for over a year( paid for six months of
service with never more than the ability to dial!). I've not set up
diald, yet, but a couple of good places for info are the website of
mindsping.com and the FAQ for tir.com(The internet ramp). The tir chat
script is particular to them, but it may be of help.

It is not particular to SuSE, which is what I use as my primary Linux
dist.
