Hmmmm.
It would seem to me that the people of the time probably didn't have a
'time system' as we would see it.... but rather at a later point in time
the system was developed and retrospectively addressed (probably by some
religious guy) hence the correlation between the birth of Christ and the
AD /BC Times.
anyway.... I'm getting a few probs with my kppp whereby it seems to
dial ok and connect but when I get the message about establishing
Network connections I get ' pppd died unexpectedly' any clues ...

Once upon a time, long, long ago (about 2001 years ago), the scientists
of the day had a problem: The Year Zero problem (YZ for short).
This being 2 BC, they realized that the people of earth were quickly
running out of years. The realization actually came many years before,
but everyone figured that either the world would end or someone else
would fix it. As the fateful day grew closer and closer, the few
practical people of the time made a decision that would save humanity
and initiate intense debates in coming millenia. In order to solve the
YZ problem, they decided that there simply would be no year zero and
that the year following 1 would be 2.
Another problem arose. People would get confused, seeing as how this
year is 2 and the year following the next would also be 2, the
scientists thought. They figured, though, that since most people never
knew what year it was anyway, what difference did it make? and they left
it to future scientists.
