There were no mouse related problems with 2.2-pre7

/dev/psaux is only needed for ps2 mice. If microsoft basic means a normal
serial mouse, psaux is not needed. Support for serial mice is included
in the serial driver, that means, you must have enabled serial support.
It may be compiled as a module. But I wouldn't recommend that.
