Hi,
I've recently tried to install the new kernel 2.2.5. I managed to
compile and correctly install , but when I try to boot it it hangs at the
very beginning of the boot process. Luck for me I had made a dual boot
configuration with the 'old' 2.2.4! Anyway, I checked the 'changes' text
file in the /usr/src/linux/documentation directory, and it seems I miss the
following elements:
- Kernel modutils 2.1.121 ; 2.1.85
- Linux libc5 C Library 5.4.46 ; ?
- Linux libc6 C Library 2.0.7pre6 ; ?
- Procps 1.2.9 ; 1.2.7
- Procinfo 16 ; 15
- Autofs 3.1.1 ; ?
- NFS 2.2beta40 ; 2.2beta38
- Ncpfs 2.2.0 ; ?
- Pcmcia-cs 3.0.7 ; ?
- Util-linux 2.9i ; ?
First is the name, the second the version required, the third (after the
';' ) the version I have. I have SuSE 6.0, so why I have such old
components?? Anyway, can anyone tell me if these are actually required for
the kernel, or if I can go along with the old ones; if the booting problem I
have may be caused by them; and, most important of all, where can I find the
updated versions of them?
    Thanks in advance,
        Mano :)
