I have to agree with you on that point steve. The dll's are nice in a way
but can produce a problem. The main one is that you can not restore a
windows program without reinstalling it because of the dll's being in
separate locations then the program files.
On another note on backing up an restoring. Say i have a tape backup in a
windows machine we use to back up our novel server with, Can I also
reliably backup a linux machine from the win98 machine to the tape drive an
then restore. I do not want to put in a backup drive in the linux machine
when I have penty of compacity on the 8 gig tape drive. I plan to have
cable net access soon an want to use linux to manage the gateway machine
for us. I';m told maybe by middle of may they will have the cable access in
our nieghborhood at home an for my work location. Can not wait to get on
the fast service an be hooked up 24/7.
