Hi Hans, if you do a look inside the Machine dependend Include Files in arch/sparc, (imho mostly in mm.h) you will see massive Assembly code in different Versions written for sun4m and sun4c and for serval cpu's and Memory Management Units in all Kernel Versions. There are big differences in handling Stackpointers, SMP, Caches, Jumps, CPU-Bugs and so on. Imho, it takes a big part of luck, to get the Code running. May be your ss20 is one of the lucky Boxes, may be your ss4 or LX are not. Imho there are many small Bugs in Sparc Code including the Bugs from gcc codegeneration an not one easy hunting big Bug. I think we need help from the Sun-Guys but they are not interested in fixing or supporting the obsolete Hardware like sun4c or sun4m.
