Sorry. I think I was confused about this issue. I thought vbetool was an independent program that was called by s2ram when available and when you specified its corresponding program options. In X, black and white 1-pixel width columns are displayed. In VTs, a corrupted screen with badly drawed characters. (**) Weird screen problem after resume, like when you watch an interlaced movie without applying the interlace filter. It's fixed if you change to an VT and back to X.
