If we go that way, the DMI stuff may become irrelevant, since the subvendor
ids are basically as accurate as the DMI entries anyway. For example:
00:02.0 Class 0300: 8086:3582 (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: 10f7:8338
Subsystem 10f7:8338 seems to point to only a few Panasonic models, which
are probably likely to be pretty similar from a chipset / needed workaround
point of view.
Or the
00:02.0 Class 0300: 8086:3582 (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: 103c:08bc
seems to match the nx5000's pretty nicely.
This would even solve the problem that there are HPs with almost the same
DMI info but totally different Hardware around:
/* Fabio Comolli <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, dv4378ea, ATI X700 */
{ "Hewlett-Packard", "Pavilion dv4000 (ES973EA#*", "", "",
VBE_POST|VBE_SAVE|NOFB },
/* Damien Raude-Morvan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, This is a dv4052ea, i915GM
*/
{ "Hewlett-Packard", "Pavilion dv4000 (EB911EA#*", "", "",
S3_BIOS },
And the same happens to be true for IBM ThinkPad R60/T60, which can be pretty
similar, or quite different.

"Well, surrounding them's out."
